Privacy Policy
Last updated 22 October 2026
This policy explains what the Coffee Break: Daily Puzzles app (“Coffee Break”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. Coffee Break is published by Cornelia Cove LLC, a New York limited liability company. It covers this app. Coffee Break is free, and you can play every puzzle without an account.
The short version
- Without an account, your puzzles, times and streaks stay on your device. We don’t know who you are.
- With a free account, we store your email address, your username and the puzzles you solve, so your streaks follow you and you can join leaderboards and add friends.
- This version shows no ads and doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We never sell your data.
What stays on your device
The app saves your progress on your device: the puzzles you’ve played, your times, streaks and best times, boards in progress, your settings, and the players you’ve hidden. If you sign in, your sign-in is kept in the iOS Keychain.
The app also keeps a short log of app events on your device (for example, that the app opened or a puzzle was finished), tagged with a random ID that was made when the app was installed and isn’t linked to you. This version doesn’t send that log anywhere. If a later version starts sending it, we’ll update this policy first.
Deleting the app removes everything it saved on your device.
Puzzles and leaderboards
To show the daily puzzles and leaderboards, the app downloads them from our servers. Like any internet request, these carry technical details such as your IP address and the app’s version. When you ask for a hint on some daily puzzles, the app sends the board as it stands to our server to work out the hint. None of this is tied to an account unless you’re signed in.
If you create an account
An account is optional. You can sign in with Apple or with a code sent to your email. If the app offers Sign in with Google and you use it, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us.
When you have an account, we store:
- Account details: your email address, the username you pick and an account ID. With Sign in with Apple, Apple shares the name and email address you choose to share, which can be a private relay address from Apple.
- Your results: for each puzzle you finish while signed in, the puzzle and date, your time, hints and attempts, your solution, and simple counts of how you played (for example, how many moves it took). When you first sign in, the app also sends the results, streaks and best times already saved on your device, so they join your account.
- Friends: friend requests and connections, if you add any.
One account works in this app and on the Coffee Break websites that offer sign-in, so your streaks are the same everywhere.
Who can see what
- Leaderboards show your username, time and streak to everyone. They never show your email address.
- Friends can see your username and your daily results. Anyone signed in can find you by searching for your username.
- We can see your account details and results to run the service and keep leaderboards fair.
Reports about other players
If you report a player’s name or time, we receive the report: the player and name you reported, the reason, any details you add, and the game and puzzle where you saw it. If you’re signed in, the report is linked to your account; if you’re not, we keep only a one-way scrambled form of your IP address to stop abuse. If you report by email, we also receive your email address. We use reports only to review them and keep Coffee Break safe. A report that nobody has reviewed is deleted automatically after 7 days. Once we have reviewed a report, we keep it, with no set deletion date, as our record of what was reported and what we decided.
Who helps us run Coffee Break
These companies process data only to run the service for us:
- Clerk: sign-in and account storage.
- MongoDB Atlas: stores results, streaks and friends.
- Render and Vercel: host our servers and puzzle data.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, if you use it.
- Resend: sends us emails about player reports.
How long we keep it
We keep your account details and results while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete them, including your leaderboard entries and friends. What stays is listed under “Deleting your account” below.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Me → Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. The app deletes your account right away. That removes your username and sign-in, your results, streaks and leaderboard entries, your friends and friend requests, and your settings, on every Coffee Break site that shares the account. Your name no longer appears on any leaderboard.
If you signed in with Apple, the app first asks you to confirm with Apple, so we can also remove Coffee Break from your Sign in with Apple list. If that step can’t be completed, the app tells you how to remove it yourself: open Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple, choose Coffee Break and stop using it.
If a deletion is interrupted, you can run it again and it picks up where it stopped. You can also email hello@coffeebreak.gg from the address on your account and we’ll delete it for you.
A few things stay after a deletion, without your name or email: records we need to stop cheating and abuse; the other side of any head-to-head game, which belongs to your opponent too; reports you made about other players, without your account ID; and a note that the account was deleted, kept under a one-way scrambled form of the account ID so an interrupted deletion can finish. The puzzles you played on your device stay on your device until you delete the app.
Your choices
- Play without an account, and nothing about you leaves your device beyond the technical details above.
- Sign out any time in Me → Settings → Account. Your results on this device stay there.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, at hello@coffeebreak.gg.
Children
Coffee Break is for a general audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here with a new date. If a change affects what we collect, such as turning on ads or sending app events, we’ll update the policy before the app starts doing it.
